Founded in 1993 by journalist John Wallach, Seeds of Peace is dedicated to inspiring and equipping new generations of leaders from regions of conflict with the relationships, understanding and skills needed to advance lasting peace.  Over the last 20 years, Seeds of Peace has intensified its impact, dramatically increasing the number of participants, represented nations, and programs.  From 46 American, Egyptian, Israeli and Palestinian teenagers in 1993, they have expanded their programming to include young leaders (“Seeds”) from across the Middle East, South Asia, Cyprus and the Balkans.  Their leadership network now encompasses nearly 5,000 Seeds.  Currently, they are actively working in the MIddle East, South Asia, and the United States.

Tim Wilson has more than 50 years of experience in education, public service and athletic coaching. Currently, Tim serves as Special Advisor to Seeds of Peace, an organization that he has been with since its founding in 1993, and Director of its Maine Seeds Program. Until 2006, he was the Director of both the Seeds of Peace International Camp in Maine and the Seeds of Peace Center for Coexistence in Jerusalem.  Tim will give a brief history of the Seeds of Peace program and the Maine Seeds of Peace camp.

Tim will be joined by four “Seeds” students, who will share their experiences and discuss how the program has impacted their lives:

2008 Seed, Spencer Taylor, Colby College Freshman, past President of Penquis High School Student Council
2009 Seed, Stephanie Vachon, President of State of Maine Student Councils
