Philip H. Brown did his graduate work at the University of Michigan (Ph.D.) and the School for International Training (M.I.I.M.). He is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics at Colby College and a Research Fellow at The William Davidson Institute. His current research emphasizes microeconomic issues in economic development — particularly poverty, health, education, and inequality. His fieldwork concentrates on health, education, and intrahousehold decision-making in rural China. He teaches classes on the Chinese economy, economic policy in East Asia, economic development, and economic demography.
